Substance Profile
alpha-Methyltryptamine (AMT) is a tryptamine derivative marketed in the 1960s in the Soviet Union as the antidepressant Indopan. It combines psychedelic, stimulant, and empathogenic properties through its dual action as a 5-HT2A agonist and monoamine releaser. Duration is exceptionally long at 12-18 hours. AMT inhibits monoamine oxidase while simultaneously potentiating the release of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine.
