5-MAPB (5-(2-methylaminopropyl)benzofuran) is a benzofuran empathogen and the closest structural analog of MDMA in the benzofuran series. It shows a profile more similar to MDMA than 6-APB, with stronger empathy and fewer psychedelic effects. Research suggests a similar serotonergic release profile to MDMA but with potentially reduced neurotoxic potential due to the absence of the methylenedioxy group.
